Description:

Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re discussing Silent Feto-Maternal Haemorrhage, or FMH. This rare condition occurs when foetal blood cells cross the placenta and enter the mother’s bloodstream, often without obvious symptoms. Because it can happen silently, FMH may go undetected until signs like decreased foetal movements or anaemia in the baby appear. Diagnosis usually involves special blood tests such as the Kleihauer-Betke test. Early detection is crucial, as severe cases can lead to complications for the foetus. If FMH is suspected, close monitoring and medical intervention may be needed. Awareness of FMH helps ensure prompt care and better outcomes for both mother and baby.
