Speciality: Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OB-GYN)
Description:
Welcome to today’s episode, where we explore Carbetocin and its role as a new paradigm in postpartum haemorrhage, or PPH, prevention. PPH remains one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide. Traditionally, oxytocin has been the mainstay for prevention, but Carbetocin offers a promising alternative. Unlike oxytocin, Carbetocin has a longer duration of action and does not require cold storage, making it practical for use in low-resource settings. Clinical studies suggest that Carbetocin is just as effective, if not more so, at reducing the risk of severe bleeding after childbirth. As research expands, Carbetocin could transform global approaches to maternal care. Stay tuned to learn more about innovations in women’s health.
