According to research on the visual cortex, rodents may see moving objects similarly to primates.

Rats may make use of a small but highly functional cluster of visual neurons to accurately detect the direction of moving objects; these neurons appear to function similarly to the "pattern cells" present in primates' cerebral cortex.
