Description:

Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re exploring carbetocin, a medication that’s changing the landscape of postpartum haemorrhage, or PPH, prevention. PPH is a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. Traditionally, oxytocin has been used to reduce this risk. However, carbetocin offers a longer-lasting effect and does not require refrigeration, making it ideal for use in low-resource settings. Clinical trials have shown carbetocin to be as effective as oxytocin, with a similar safety profile. This advancement represents a significant step forward in maternal health, especially in communities where access to cold storage is limited. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight innovations in women’s health.
