Description:

Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re exploring silent feto-maternal haemorrhage, or FMH. This condition occurs when fetal blood cells cross into the mother’s bloodstream, often without obvious symptoms. While small amounts are common during pregnancy, larger unnoticed transfers can lead to fetal anaemia or even distress. Because FMH is often silent, it can be difficult to detect until complications arise. Diagnosis relies on blood tests such as the Kleihauer-Betke test, especially if there are signs like reduced fetal movements. Awareness is crucial for timely intervention and a better outcome for both mother and baby. If you have concerns during pregnancy, always consult your healthcare provider.
