Dear Doctor - Participate in the Survey on childhood trauma " A recent survey of adults in the United States found that nearly 60% of respondents reported experiencing at least one type of childhood trauma, with almost 20% reporting multiple types. The most common types of childhood trauma were exposure to violence (i.e. witnessing violence or being a victim of violence), sexual abuse, and emotional abuse. The survey also found that adults who experienced childhood trauma were more likely to suffer from a variety of health problems, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and difficulty sleeping. They were also more likely to engage in risky behaviors, such as substance abuse and unprotected sex. This study highlights the importance of recognizing and addressing childhood trauma. Trauma can have a profound and lasting impact on an individual's physical and mental health, and it is important to provide support and resources to those who have experienced it.
