Survey on COVID-related depression

As the world battles against the COVID-19 pandemic, many are also struggling with mental health issues like COVID-related depression. A survey conducted by various healthcare organizations reveals that around 40% of people have experienced symptoms of depression since the outbreak began. The effects of social isolation, unemployment, and fear constantly haunt individuals leading to a decline in psychological well-being. Work-from-home arrangements has blurred the boundaries between personal and professional life resulting in an unusually high workload contributing to over-exertion which then turns into anxiety and sadness. Moreover, constant news about increasing infection rates and fatalities is distressing for many people causing them to feel powerless over their circumstances leading to low mood or worse still suicidal ideation.
