Less is more: Studies show that distal pancreatectomy results are better when no drain is inserted.

The results of a study conducted by Amsterdam UMC that involved ten Dutch hospitals and two Italian hospitals revealed that patients having a left-sided pancreatic resection, or "resection," fare better when there is no drain placed during the procedure.
