According to a study, patients undergoing radiation therapy have a higher risk of developing radiodermatitis due to disturbed skin microbiome.

Severe dermatitis is a common side effect of radiation therapy for cancer patients. Up until now, it has been only partially determined which factors raise the risk of such radiodermatitis. The University of Augsburg conducted a pilot study.
