Tanzanian infant mortality rates have decreased as a result of urban births.

In 2021, there were 5,000,000 deaths of children under the age of 5. Nearly half of these incidents took place in the first month, a period of considerable vulnerability. With 27 deaths per 1,000 newborns, Sub-Saharan Africa had the highest mortality rate worldwide.
