Ovaries are removed during benign hysterectomy, according to research, at a risk to one's health.

The removal of the ovaries during benign hysterectomy was linked to an increased risk of cancer in older women and cardiovascular disease in younger women, according to an emulated target trial involving more than 140,000 women in Denmark.
