Race and sex are factors in melanoma in darker skin tones, according to research.

People with darker skin tones are more likely to have melanoma, an aggressive type of skin cancer that causes 75% of all skin cancer-related deaths. Melanoma can have devastating effects and is frequently detected later in life.
