According to recent research, ultrasound can be used to identify placenta issues in small fetuses.

The placenta's function can be determined by a Doppler ultrasound, which monitors the blood flow of tiny fetuses. Additional monitoring should be done if there are consistent deviations from these Doppler measurements.
