Pregnancy rates have generally decreased, according to a study conducted in the Australian state of Victoria.

Notwithstanding regional and other factors, La Trobe University researchers have given credit to novel methods of contraception, such as long-acting reversible contraceptives, for the overall decline in Victoria's abortion rates among childbearing women.
