A study investigates the potential for protecting kidneys by using a mutated gene linked to hypertension.

According to a team led by Enno Klußmann of the Max Delbrück Center and the DZHK and published in Kidney International, a mutation that results in severe hypertension also shields the kidneys from harm. The scientists are currently investigating.
