More than 40 years have passed since the discovery of the first oncogene, and research has revealed its hitherto unidentified mode of action.

Cancer and the c-Src gene were linked, it was found in the late 1970s. Someone identified the first oncogene. Since then, it has been discovered that the colon, liver, lung, breast, and prostate all have overactive c-Src.
