A Singapore study predicts that within three decades, obesity will overtake smoking as the leading cause of heart attacks.

From 482 cases in 2025 to 1,418 cases per 100,000 people in 2050, the number of heart attacks in Singapore is expected to nearly triple (194.4 percent), with obesity predicted to be the primary metabolic risk factor.
