Description:

A warm welcome to all the medical professionals in this interesting session on Plaque Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis and its management
Plaque psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition characterized by the rapid overproduction of skin cells, leading to thick, red, scaly patches on the skin. These plaques can cause significant discomfort, itching, and pain, and they commonly appear on the elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. While the exact cause is unknown, it is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an inflammatory arthritis that occurs in some individuals with plaque psoriasis. PsA causes joint pain, stiffness, and swelling, which can lead to joint damage if not adequately managed. The condition can affect any joint but commonly impacts the fingers, toes, and spine. PsA's onset can significantly affect a patient's quality of life, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
For more severe cases, phototherapy and systemic treatments, including biologics and oral medications like methotrexate, are used to reduce inflammation and slow down the rapid skin cell turnover.
Therefore, get an overall knowledge of updated plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and its management
