Description:

A warm welcome to all the medical professionals in this interesting session on Role of IL-6 inhibition in Rheumatic Diseases
IL-6 inhibition has become a pivotal strategy in the treatment of various rheumatic diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in the pathogenesis of RA and other autoimmune conditions by promoting inflammation, joint damage, and systemic symptoms. Elevated levels of IL-6 are associated with disease activity and severity, making it a key therapeutic target.
The development of IL-6 inhibitors, such as tocilizumab, has revolutionized the management of RA, especially in patients who do not respond adequately to traditional DMARDs or TNF inhibitors. By blocking the IL-6 receptor, these inhibitors reduce inflammation, slow down joint damage, and alleviate symptoms such as pain, swelling, and fatigue. Beyond RA, IL-6 inhibitors have shown efficacy in other rheumatic conditions, including giant cell arteritis and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, broadening their impact in rheumatology.
Therefore, get an overall knowledge of Role of IL-6 inhibition in Rheumatic Diseases
