Speciality: Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Description:
Welcome to today’s episode, where we unravel how GnRH agonists are used to manage endometriosis and fibroids. These medications work by suppressing the production of oestrogen, which in turn reduces the growth and symptoms of these conditions. Clinical evidence shows that GnRH agonists can significantly improve pain and shrink fibroid size, but they also carry side effects like bone loss and menopausal symptoms. Current guidelines recommend their use for short-term management, often with add-back therapy to minimise side effects. It’s vital to weigh the benefits against potential risks in each patient. Understanding both the science and the evidence helps us make informed, patient-centred decisions. Thank you for joining us.
