Speciality: Ophthalmology
Description:
Welcome to our podcast, where today we’re shedding light on cataracts: a common eye condition, especially as we age. Cataracts cause the lens of your eye to become cloudy, leading to blurry vision, faded colours, and increased sensitivity to glare. The main cause is ageing, but factors like diabetes, smoking, prolonged sun exposure, and certain medications can also play a role. Early symptoms might include trouble seeing at night or needing brighter light when reading. Fortunately, cataracts can be treated with a simple surgical procedure where the cloudy lens is replaced with a clear artificial one. Regular eye check-ups are important for early detection and effective treatment. Thank you for listening.
