Understanding Anemia: Causes and Treatment

Speciality: Hematology

Speaker:

Dr. AJGARE SACHIN MADHUKAR | Consultant Hematologist

Description:

Anemia is a common medical condition where the body lacks enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to tissues. This can result in symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath. The most frequent cause of anemia is a deficiency in iron, but it can also be triggered by vitamin deficiencies, chronic diseases, or genetic factors. Diagnosing anemia typically involves blood tests to check red blood cell levels and identify the underlying cause. Treatment depends on the cause and may include dietary changes, supplements, or addressing underlying health issues. Early diagnosis and appropriate management are key to preventing complications and improving quality of life.
