Speciality: Anesthesia
Description:
In today’s episode, we’re exploring what happens before, during, and after general anesthesia. Before the procedure, you’ll meet your anaesthetist, discuss your medical history, and be given instructions, such as fasting. During anaesthesia, medications are carefully administered to ensure you’re fully unconscious and pain-free, while your vital signs are continuously monitored. After the procedure, you’re taken to a recovery area where staff monitor you as you wake up, checking for any side effects like nausea or confusion. Most people recover quickly, though you may feel groggy for a while. Understanding each stage helps reduce anxiety and ensures a safer, smoother experience with anaesthesia.
