Speciality: Hematology
Description:
Welcome to today's episode, where we explore hematologic fatigue and its impact on work function. Hematologic fatigue is a common but often overlooked symptom in people with blood disorders like anemia, leukemia, or after chemotherapy. This type of fatigue is not just feeling tired—it’s a profound lack of energy that affects physical and cognitive performance at work. The underlying causes include reduced oxygen delivery, inflammation, and changes in metabolism. Clinically, it can lead to poor concentration, absenteeism, and decreased productivity. Management involves treating the underlying blood disorder, optimizing nutrition, and using supportive therapies like counseling or graded exercise. Recognizing and addressing hematologic fatigue is essential for improving quality of life and workplace success.
