Screening for Occult Leptomeningeal Disease Through Cerebrospinal Fluid Tumor DNA Analysis

Speciality: Oncology

Speaker:

Shah Nilav Mehul | HCP

Description:

Leptomeningeal disease is a challenging complication in cancer patients, often remaining hidden until symptoms appear. Recent advances in cerebrospinal fluid, or CSF, tumor DNA analysis are changing how we screen for this condition. By analyzing tumor DNA fragments in CSF, clinicians can detect occult, or hidden, leptomeningeal disease before it becomes evident on imaging or through neurological symptoms. This approach allows for earlier diagnosis and potentially more effective treatment. Early detection through CSF tumor DNA analysis can help guide therapy decisions and improve patient outcomes. As this technology evolves, it offers new hope for patients at risk of leptomeningeal spread, highlighting the growing role of precision oncology in neuro-oncology care.
