Teaching Optical Coherence Tomography Through Layer-Segmentation Exercises

Speciality: Ophthalmology

Speaker:

Sidharth Shankar Anand | HCP

Description:

Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT, has become a cornerstone in modern ophthalmology and retinal imaging. But understanding OCT images can be challenging for new learners. That's where layer-segmentation exercises come in. By practising the identification and separation of different retinal layers, students gain hands-on experience and build confidence. These exercises help demystify the complex images, making it easier to spot abnormalities and understand eye health. Layer-segmentation not only strengthens technical skills, but also deepens clinical insight. Incorporating these exercises in teaching can transform OCT learning from theory-heavy to interactive and practical, benefiting both students and educators alike.
