How Diabetes Can Affect Eye Health

Speciality: Ophthalmology

Description:

Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re exploring how diabetes can impact your eye health. Diabetes increases your risk for several eye conditions, most notably diabetic retinopathy. High blood sugar levels can damage the tiny blood vessels in the retina, leading to vision problems and even blindness if not managed properly. Other complications include cataracts and glaucoma, which also occur more frequently in people with diabetes. The good news is, regular eye check-ups and good blood sugar control can greatly reduce these risks. If you have diabetes, make it a priority to schedule yearly eye exams and talk to your healthcare provider about protecting your vision. Your eyes are worth it. Stay informed, stay healthy.
