Assessing Therapy-Related Myeloid Neoplasm Risk Through Clonal Hematopoiesis and Treatment Exposure Integration

Description:

Welcome to our podcast, where we explore advances in hematology. Today, we discuss assessing the risk of therapy-related myeloid neoplasms, or t-MNs, by integrating clonal hematopoiesis with treatment exposure. Clonal hematopoiesis refers to the presence of genetic mutations in blood-forming cells, which can increase the risk of developing blood cancers. When patients undergo chemotherapy or radiation, these treatments can further elevate that risk. Recent research suggests that by analyzing both a patient’s clonal hematopoiesis profile and the types and doses of therapies they receive, clinicians can more accurately predict who is at higher risk for t-MNs. This integrated approach could lead to more personalized cancer care and better long-term outcomes.
