Understanding Vertigo From an Ear-Related Perspective

Speciality: ENT

Description:

Welcome to our podcast! Today, we’re exploring vertigo from an ear-related perspective. Vertigo is a sensation of spinning or dizziness, often caused by problems in the inner ear. The inner ear contains structures called the vestibular system, which helps control our balance. When these structures are disrupted—by infections, crystals moving out of place, or inflammation—it can send confusing signals to the brain, resulting in vertigo. Common causes include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, or BPPV, and inner ear infections. Recognising that vertigo often starts in the ear is key to finding effective treatment. If you experience frequent dizziness, consult a healthcare professional to identify the cause and explore management options. Stay tuned for more insights on health and wellness.
