Description:
A warm welcome to all the medical professionals in this interesting session on the benefits of influenza vaccination in high risk populations of diabetes and COPD patients. In this webinar, Dr. Marco Goeijenbier has shared the insights on the benefits of influenza vaccination in high risk populations.
Influenza is responsible for multiple deaths and about 20 to 30% of the deaths occurring annually are observed in children depicting the poor condition of controlling influenza in children. The virus is present globally but is not that powerful to create an epidemic.
Influenza is a contagious infection in nature causing high fever, body aches, cough, and other symptoms. Basically the children suffer for less than a week with the flu, but in cases of serious illness, they may need to be admitted to the hospital.
Among people with diabetes and chronic lung disease like COPD influenza causes severe impacts and flu vaccination has been shown to be associated with reduced hospitalizations from a worsening of their chronic condition. Flu vaccinations can shorten the length of hospital stay due to flu, reduce the risk of ICU admission from flu and also helps in reducing the risk of death from flu.
Therefore, get an overall knowledge regarding the benefits of influenza vaccination in high risk populations of diabetes and COPD patients.
