Speciality: Pulmonary Medicine

Dr. BALARAM GHOSH | Consultant Pulmonologist

Description:

Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re exploring sleep apnea, a common but often overlooked sleep disorder. Sleep apnea occurs when your breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Key symptoms include loud snoring, gasping for air at night, morning headaches, and excessive daytime tiredness. If left untreated, sleep apnea can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. The most common treatment is continuous positive airway pressure, or CPAP, which keeps your airway open as you sleep. Other options include lifestyle changes, mouthpieces, or, in some cases, surgery. If you suspect you might have sleep apnea, consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment. Prioritising quality sleep is essential for your overall health.
