COPD Explained: Protect Your Lungs Before It's Too Late

Speciality: Pulmonary Medicine

Speaker:

Dr. SACHIN RATHOD | Consultant Pulmonologist

Description:

In today’s episode, we’re shedding light on COPD – or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This common lung condition makes it harder to breathe because the airways become narrowed and damaged over time. The main cause is long-term exposure to irritants, especially cigarette smoke, but air pollution and workplace dust can also play a role. Symptoms like persistent cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath often develop slowly, making early detection critical. If you smoke, quitting is the single most important step to protect your lungs. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and avoiding pollutants can also help. Remember, COPD can’t be cured, but its progression can be slowed. Take care of your lungs—they’re vital for every breath you take.
