By synthesizing recent research and expert insights, this article underscores the clinical relevance and practical implications of embedding humanistic measures in routine care, ultimately enhancing patient-centeredness, improving quality of life, and fostering equitable health systems.
\nTraditional healthcare has predominantly relied on clinical and biochemical outcomes to evaluate treatment efficacy. However, the growing recognition of patient-centered care has driven the adoption of humanistic outcome measures, which capture the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of health as perceived by patients. These measures include health-related quality of life (HRQoL), patient-reported outcomes (PROs), satisfaction, and functional status. The increasing emphasis on humanistic outcomes reflects an ethical commitment to respect patient autonomy and optimize care beyond disease-specific parameters.
