Speciality: Pulmonary Medicine

Description:

Welcome to our podcast, where today we’re exploring the common causes of chronic cough. A chronic cough is defined as a cough lasting more than eight weeks in adults. The most frequent causes include postnasal drip, also known as upper airway cough syndrome, asthma, and gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. Less commonly, chronic cough may be linked to medications such as ACE inhibitors, or underlying conditions like chronic bronchitis. Identifying the cause often requires a careful review of symptoms and sometimes diagnostic tests. If you or someone you know has a persistent cough, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and treatment. Early diagnosis can lead to effective relief and improved quality of life.
