Understanding Seizures and When Neurological Evaluation Is Needed

Speciality: Neurology

Speaker:

Atif Nazir Patel | HCP

Description:

Seizures are sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbances in the brain that can cause changes in behavior, movements, feelings, or levels of consciousness. While some seizures may be brief and go unnoticed, others can be more severe and disruptive. It’s important to remember that not all seizures mean you have epilepsy. Causes may include high fever, low blood sugar, or even certain medications. If you or someone you know experiences a first-time seizure, repeated episodes, or seizures lasting more than five minutes, it’s essential to seek neurological evaluation. Early diagnosis helps identify underlying conditions and guides effective treatment. Never ignore unexplained seizures—consult a neurologist to ensure proper care and peace of mind.
