Migraine vs Headache: Know the Difference

Speciality: Neurology

Speaker:

Dr. PRADEEP KUMAR GUPTA | Consultant Neurologist

Description:

Welcome to our podcast, where we unravel the differences between migraines and headaches. While many people use these terms interchangeably, they are quite distinct. A typical headache is often mild to moderate, felt as a steady ache on both sides of the head, and may be relieved by rest or over-the-counter medication. Migraines, on the other hand, are usually more severe, often one-sided, and can be accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light, or even visual disturbances known as auras. Migraines may last for hours or even days and often disrupt daily life. Recognising these differences is key to getting the right treatment and managing your symptoms more effectively. If you’re unsure, consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
