Description:
A warm welcome to all the medical professionals in this interesting session on the role of pazopanib in managing advanced renal cell carcinoma.
Kidney cancer or renal cancer is one of the common cancers that are found in both men and women and the burden of it is also increasing with time. Advanced RCC is stage 4 kidney cancer and it is highly difficult to cure.
Mostly, healthcare professionals focus on slowing down the progression of the disease or alleviating symptoms and improving the quality of life of the patients. However, ongoing research on advanced RCC has come up with new treatments with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.
Pazopanib is an anti-cancer medication that can block tumor cell growth in several ways. It targets several proteins primarily, tyrosine kinases which are present on the surface of cancer cells. Moreover, several of these targeted cells are also involved in angiogenesis (making of blood vessels).
