Assessing Spontaneous Preterm Birth Risk Through Cervicovaginal Extracellular Vesicle Signatures

Speciality: Obstetrics and Gynecology

Speaker:

Kavitha K | HCP

Description:

Today, we’re exploring a promising approach to predicting spontaneous preterm birth: analyzing cervicovaginal extracellular vesicle signatures. Extracellular vesicles are tiny particles released by cells, carrying important molecular information. Recent research suggests that the composition of these vesicles in cervicovaginal fluid changes during pregnancy, and certain patterns may indicate a higher risk of preterm birth. By studying these signatures, clinicians could identify at-risk mothers earlier, allowing for timely interventions and improved outcomes. While this field is still developing, the use of extracellular vesicle profiling could revolutionize how we assess and manage preterm birth risk in the future.
