Speciality: Nephrology
Description:
Welcome to our podcast on kidney health. Today, let’s focus on fluid and electrolyte balance in kidney disorders. Our kidneys play a crucial role in regulating water and essential minerals like sodium, potassium, and calcium, keeping our bodies functioning smoothly. When the kidneys are not working properly, imbalances can occur. This may lead to dehydration, swelling, high blood pressure, or dangerous shifts in electrolytes. Recognising early signs, such as fatigue, muscle cramps, or swelling, can help in managing these disorders. Treatment often involves adjusting fluid intake, diet, and sometimes medications. Understanding and maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance is key for overall kidney health and wellbeing.
