Diagnosing PCOS involves assessing symptoms such as irregular periods, excess androgens, and ovarian cysts through ultrasound examination. Additional symptoms may include acne, weight gain, and hirsutism.
Treatment strategies for PCOS focus on managing symptoms and preventing complications. Lifestyle modifications, pharmacological interventions, and surgical options are commonly employed. Lifestyle changes include dietary adjustments and regular exercise to address insulin resistance and weight management. Pharmacological interventions may include hormonal contraceptives and insulin-sensitizing medications. Surgical options such as ovarian drilling may be considered in certain cases.
