Description:

A warm welcome to all the medical professionals in this interesting session on Allergic Asthma: A brief overview
Allergic asthma is a common form of asthma triggered by allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and mold. In individuals with allergic asthma, exposure to these allergens causes the immune system to overreact, leading to airway inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. This type of asthma is often diagnosed in childhood but can develop at any age.
Management of allergic asthma typically involves a combination of avoiding known allergens and using medications to control symptoms. Inhaled corticosteroids are commonly prescribed as a long-term treatment to reduce airway inflammation, while bronchodilators may be used for quick relief during an asthma attack. In some cases, allergen-specific immunotherapy (allergy shots) may be recommended to reduce sensitivity to particular allergens over time. Understanding and managing allergic triggers are crucial for individuals with allergic asthma to maintain control over their symptoms and prevent severe exacerbations, allowing them to lead active, healthy lives.
