Speciality: Gastroenterology
Description:
Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re exploring acid reflux and GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing a burning sensation known as heartburn. GERD is a chronic, more severe form of acid reflux that can lead to complications if left untreated. Common symptoms include chest discomfort, regurgitation, and a sour taste in the mouth. Triggers can include certain foods, obesity, or even stress. Simple lifestyle changes like eating smaller meals, avoiding trigger foods, and elevating the head during sleep can help manage symptoms. If you experience frequent heartburn, consult a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment. Thanks for listening.
