Speciality: Nephrology
Description:
Welcome to today’s episode, where we explore chronic kidney disease, or CKD. Chronic kidney disease is a long-term condition where the kidneys gradually lose their ability to filter waste from the blood. Common causes include diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain genetic factors. Early symptoms can be subtle, such as fatigue, swelling in the ankles, or changes in urination patterns. If left untreated, CKD can progress to kidney failure. Treatment focuses on managing the underlying causes, adopting a kidney-friendly diet, and sometimes medications to control blood pressure and blood sugar. In advanced cases, dialysis or a kidney transplant may be necessary. Early detection and regular checkups are key to slowing CKD’s progression and maintaining a healthy life.
