Speciality: Radiology

Speaker:

Dr. SHIULI PAUL | Consultant Radiologist

Description:

Welcome to our podcast. Today, we're exploring common myths and facts about radiation safety. Many people believe that all radiation is dangerous, but in truth, we’re exposed to natural background radiation every day from the earth and even the sun. Another myth is that medical X-rays always pose a serious health risk. In reality, the levels of radiation used in diagnostic imaging are carefully controlled and kept as low as possible. The key is understanding the difference between high and low doses. While unnecessary exposure should be avoided, most everyday sources are not harmful. Staying informed and following safety guidelines ensures we can benefit from technology while minimising risks.
