Speciality: Obstetrics & Gynecology
Description:
Welcome to our podcast, where today we’re exploring PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome. PCOS is a common hormonal disorder affecting people with ovaries, typically during their reproductive years. The main symptoms include irregular periods, excessive hair growth, acne, and sometimes weight gain or difficulty losing weight. Many people with PCOS also experience ovarian cysts, which can be detected with an ultrasound. While the exact cause of PCOS isn’t fully understood, it’s linked to insulin resistance and genetics. Early diagnosis and management are important to help reduce long-term risks like diabetes and heart disease. If you notice any symptoms, consider speaking to a healthcare provider. Thanks for listening.
