Speciality: Neurology
Description:
Welcome to today’s episode, where we explore epilepsy—a neurological condition that affects millions worldwide. Epilepsy is characterised by recurrent, unprovoked seizures caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Causes can include genetics, head injuries, infections, or developmental disorders, but often the exact cause remains unknown. Symptoms vary, ranging from brief lapses in attention to full convulsions. Diagnosis typically involves neurological exams and brain scans. Treatment options include anti-seizure medications, lifestyle adjustments, and sometimes surgery for severe cases. With proper management, many people with epilepsy lead full, active lives. Understanding epilepsy helps reduce stigma and supports those living with the condition. Thanks for listening.
