Lung Cancer: Risk Factors and Prevention

Speciality: Oncology

Speaker:

Dr. JANARDHANA VURIMI | Consultant Oncologist

Description:

Welcome to our podcast, where today we discuss lung cancer—one of the most common and serious cancers worldwide. The primary risk factor for lung cancer is smoking, but exposure to second-hand smoke, radon gas, asbestos, and air pollution can also increase your risk. Family history and certain genetic factors may play a role as well. The good news is that many lung cancer cases can be prevented. Quitting smoking, avoiding exposure to harmful substances, and choosing a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise all help lower your risk. Early detection is vital, so speak to your healthcare provider if you have concerns. Remember, knowledge and proactive choices are your best defence.
