Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) represents a spectrum of conditions associated with sudden, reduced blood flow to the heart. Ongoing advancements in ACS management have led to significant improvements in patient outcomes. This article outlines the latest advancements and best practices in ACS management.
Recent years have seen remarkable advancements in ACS management, largely focused on reducing myocardial injury and improving patient survival. These include the advent of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays, which have improved the accuracy of ACS diagnosis. Additionally, the development of novel antiplatelet therapies such as ticagrelor and prasugrel has enhanced the effectiveness of ACS treatment.
Best practices in ACS management encompass rapid diagnosis and risk stratification, early revascularization, and comprehensive secondary prevention. Rapid diagnosis is facilitated by high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays, while risk stratification can be achieved through tools like the GRACE risk score. Early revascularization, either through percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), remains the cornerstone of ACS treatment. Comprehensive secondary prevention includes lifestyle modifications and pharmacotherapy with antiplatelet agents, statins, beta-blockers, and ACE inhibitors.
Despite these advancements, challenges persist in ACS management. These include the management of high-risk patients, such as those with multivessel disease or diabetes, and the optimization of dual antiplatelet therapy duration. Future research should focus on addressing these challenges to further improve patient outcomes.

Healthcare professionals should stay abreast of the latest advancements and best practices in ACS management to deliver optimal patient care.
