Patient education is also crucial, as it promotes adherence and alerts patients to potential side effects. Furthermore, fostering communication among healthcare providers can ensure coordinated care and minimize the risk of adverse interactions.
While the challenge of polypharmacy is complex, a thorough understanding of drug interactions and a proactive approach to their management can mitigate associated risks. As healthcare professionals, we must strive to balance the benefits of multiple medications against the potential for harmful interactions, always with the goal of optimizing patient outcomes.
