Several new pharmacological agents have emerged, offering better outcomes for heart failure patients. Sacubitril/Valsartan, a first-in-class angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor, has shown superiority over traditional ACE inhibitors in reducing mortality and hospitalization. SGLT2 inhibitors, initially used for diabetes management, have demonstrated significant benefits in heart failure, irrespective of diabetes status.
Device therapy has evolved beyond implantable cardioverter-defibrillators and pacemakers. Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) has proven effective in reducing hospitalization and mortality in patients with heart failure and conduction abnormalities.
